Billie Joe Sims, 74, of Indianapolis, passed away on May 10, 2018 at his home. He was born on November 29, 1943 to Max and Effie Sims in Waynesburg, Kentucky.
Billie married Mary M. Orcheston on May 16, 1964 in Greenock Scotland. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Navy and was awarded and Honorable Discharge after 8 years of service. He worked as an Electrical General Forman for Olin Brass for 32 years. He was a member of the Speedway Moose Lodge.
Billie is survived by his wife of almost 54 years, Mary; daughter, Veronica Wampler; son, James Sims; grandchildren, Meggan Wampler, Scott Wampler, Tylor Wampler, Brittany Adams, James Sims Jr. and Summer Sims; his great-grandchildren, Dillion Munden, Maleigha Munden, Nevaeh Martin, Makayla Martin, Kaydence Sims, Mckenize Munden, Brianna Adams, and Wyatt Sims; and numerous other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Sims; and son, Billie Ray Sims.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 18 at Indiana Funeral Care, Harry W Moore Chapel with the Great Lakes Caring Hospice Chaplain officiating. Friends may pay their respects from 10 a.m. until the service time on Friday, and from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 17. Bill will be laid to rest with military honors at Floral Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Scott Wampler, David Carter, Michael Lane, Mike Lane, Richard Carnes, and Mike Beason.
Memorials may be given to Mary Sims through the funeral home.
