William L Likens, 62, left the arms of his family and went to be with our Heavenly Father on November 17, 2019. He was born in Goodlettsville, Tennessee on August 9, 1957 to Leslie O’dell and Ruby Likens. As a child he loved being outside, playing in the creeks, fishing, picking lots of blackberries and hunting for night crawlers.
William joined the Armed Forces of the United States of America at the age of 24. Starting his entry for active duty at Lexington KY. He earned his rifle M-16 MKM QUAL BAD, HAND GREN SPS QUAL BAD, and ASR. William also started project Head Start, earning a reward for Outstanding Service on May 18, 1988.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie O’dell and Ruby Likens; siblings, Francis King, Irene Phipps, and Carolyn (Clyde) Allen.
He is survived by his daughters, Jackie Likens and Crystal (Paul) Graf; his siblings, Shirley (Forest) Brinley, Linda (Will) Grizzle, Thomas (Victoria) Likens, Bonnie (Jack) Tighe, and a half-sister Jean Harp; and his grandchildren, Octavia, Trenity, Xavier, Landen and Kayleonna. William is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
William was very proud fisherman spending many nights with his good friend, Jeremy Salven, catching many various types and sizes of fish. Also, many days/nights were spent playing euchre and horse shoes (which no one could beat him at) with Rick Markley.
A memorial service remembering William’s life will be held in the spring at the river where William loved to fish every day.
William will be dearly missed by his family and friends until we meet again at Heaven’s Gate.
