William Conrad Deeken III passed away on June 13, 2023.
“Billy” (as known back home) was 68 years young. Raised on Staten Island, NY, he was the only son of four children born to William C. Jr and Dorothy Deeken.
He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 of his sisters Dot and Kitty.
He is survived by his wife Mary, his daughters Maddie and Hayley, grandson Booker, and his sister Terry.
Bill served in the United States Air Force as a young man and remained an unapologetic patriot his entire adult life. He proudly rolled with the Indiana Patriot Guard Riders for several years. After 2001, he faithfully manned the 116th Street bridge over I69/SR37 every September 11 to wave a big American flag.
He retired in 2021 after a long career with Navient/Sallie Mae/USA Group.
He was a big hearted man disguised as a curmudgeon.
He cherished his life long friendships.
If family member or friend was hurt or sick, he showed up to help, comfort, or just be present.
He loved his girls and his grandson.
He loved to ride his Victory Motorcycles to Southern Indiana (or anywhere really).
He was an enthusiastic fan of the Indianapolis 500 race.
He’ll be sorely missed by his family and friends.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held on June 24th 1-4pm at the Stanley E. Banks Sr. VFW Post 10003 in Carmel, Indiana.
