Wanda Lee Lowes, age 88, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2023.
She was born May 5, 1935, in Morganfield, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Beatrice Burleson Moman Hagerty and Johnny Moman.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husbands, Joseph Lee Saligoe and Thomas Lowes.
She attended Bob Jones University and had a long career as a nurse at St. Francis, Methodist Hospital, IU Medical Center, and several Healthcare facilities in south Florida. In the last few years, she continued to serve her community and dedicated time volunteering at St. Francis Hospital.
Dancing was her life-long passion, and she never stopped. Her love of travel and dance took her many places including ballroom cruise trips and to Argentina with an Argentine Tango dance group. She loved Sundays because she would go to church and to the Continental Dance Club in Indianapolis.
More than anything else, Wanda loved to spend time with family and friends. When she entered a room, she lit it up with her smile and contagious giggle.
Wanda is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph A and Novalea Saligoe; grandson and grand daughter-in-law, Kevin and Ashlee Saligoe; great granddaughter, Sofia Saligoe; sister, Joyce Moss. She leaves behind many other family members and friends.
Wanda’s generous heart and zest for life will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held at Indiana Funeral Care – Harry W. Moore Chapel, 8151 Allisonville Road Indianapolis In 46250, on Saturday November 4, 2023. Visitation will be from 11-12 with the service beginning at 12pm. She will be laid to rest at Oaklawn Memorial in the Garden of Resurrection with a private ceremony.
