Walter (Joe) Deppe, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in his granddaughter’s Indianapolis, IN home on Saturday, April 17, 2021.
Joe was born on July 11, 1934, in Indianapolis, IN to his parents Thomas Albert & Lillian Gale (Senior).
The youngest of seven, he enjoyed spending his childhood days working on his brother’s farm. He once rode his bicycle over 60 miles with a fishing pole, stopping to fish along the way & attempted to transport a fish in his pocket.
Joe spent many years as the Used Car Manager for Crossroads Lincoln Mercury in Indianapolis. He was also a self-employed auto dealer and Owner of Deppe Engineering. He built Deppe Eagle Billet Block Engines & won several championships including the 2016 World Midget Championship in Lismore, Australia. For a short time, he owned and operated Racers Pizza.
Joe was a devoted father and family man and deeply loved by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His hobbies included fishing, boating, auto and horse racing and visiting casinos.
Joe is survived by his Daughter, Vicki (Tony) and Son, Wayne, six Grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren & one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held from 10am-12pm with service immediately following on Monday, May 3, 2021 at Indiana Funeral Care 2433 East Main Street Greenwood, IN 46143.
There will be a Kentucky Derby Theme Celebration of Life for Joe at 1pm on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 1802 Winding Ridge Avenue Indianapolis, IN 46217.
