Volker Rudolph of Cicero, IN passed from this world peacefully at the age of 86 on September 15, 2024 surrounded by his family and care team at Riverview Hospital.
He is survived by his beloved wife, best friend, and partner of 57 years Sharon, along with his loving son Kurt & his wife Catherine of Noblesville, IN and brother Eberhard in Germany.
He was preceded in death by his father Willi Rudolph, mother Ottilie and brother Jürgen.
Born in Karlsruhe, Germany in 1938, he began his training as a Chef in Europe. His adventurous spirit and love of the American West brought him in 1964 to Texas, then Colorado (where he met Sharon & started his family), to live, work, and travel, before moving to Indiana in 1985.
After a remarkable career earning culinary rewards and managing high profile events in hotels & country clubs around the country, Volker retired in 2002 after 17 years as the Executive Chef at the Canterbury Hotel in Indianapolis where he exhibited his creativity and artistic talent.
He and Sharon were blessed to spend 7 years of their retirement in New Mexico, another adventure & experience he greatly appreciated before returning to Indiana in 2009.
Volker will be remembered for his dedication to excellence in everything he did, both in his career and keeping up his home. Most importantly, his loyalty and devotion to caring and providing for Sharon and Kurt.
In honoring Volker’s wishes, there will be no services.
