Thomas Maher, born on January 10, 1964, in Dallas, Texas, passed away on February 21, 2025, in Greenwood, Indiana. A life to service, Thomas most of his adult years as a waiter bartender, where he was known for his warm and exceptional hospitality. Thomas’s commitment to his country was evident during his time as an Army Veteran. His military service shaped him into the resilient and dedicated individual that friends and family cherished.
He was a man of great passions, finding joy in riding motorcycles and relishing every moment spent with his buddies. Thomas's zest for life was apparent in all he did, leaving a warm imprint on everyone who crossed his path. Thomas had a deep love for bowling, spending many weekends at the lanes with friends and family. Whether in friendly competition or just for fun, bowling brought him much happiness and connection. Thomas was also a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, always ready to cheer them on with passion and pride.
He is survived by his children: Thomas (Cara) Maher of Scott Air Force Base, Illinois; Tasha (Porter) Maher of Campton, Kentucky; and Latonya Faye Maher (Alfred) of Zoe, Kentucky. His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren: Kaleb, Dalton, Alex, Morgan, Daniel, Gracey, Jenson, and Walker.
Thomas is also remembered by his mother, Kaye Hamill of Dallas, Texas. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Jacqueline Maher; his sister, Lisa Schoenberger; and his cherished granddaughter, Kaelyn Hope Maher.
As family and friends reflect on Thomas's life, they remember him not only for his dedication and warmth but also for the joy he brought into their lives. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Thomas' children will host a memorial service in his hometown of Dallas, Texas at a later date.
