Thomas George Leax

March 5, 1950 — January 2, 2021

Dear Family and Friends,

Thomas Leax was born in Pittsburgh in March of 1950 to Bill and Gini Leax, the third of four children. He died on Saturday, January 2nd, 2021. Over the past few months
Tom had difficulty with general weakness and breathing and was in the hospital in October and again in December. On Wednesday, December 30th, I took him to the hospital again and tests confirmed stage four lung cancer. I was with him most of that day and was there when the Doctor gave Tom the results of the CT chest scan. Tom wanted to go home, but by then he could not walk or get out of bed. Just three days later, Tom passed peacefully in his sleep, without panic or pain- this was our prayer. We just didn't know it would be answered so quickly.
Tom had more than twelve years in Indianapolis but talked about going back to Pittsburgh. He was an avid Steelers fan, loved oldies, doo-wop music, TV shows from the sixties, and old movies. He played video games quite a bit and spent his days collecting movies and music on his computer. He also liked modifying his computer hardware, and all his files. He loved gardening and planting flowers and for the last three years was able to have a garden area right outside his front door. Tom had very few contacts beyond Becki, Wendy and Alice and me. I sometimes think that God has kept us going- so we could keep Tom going.
With Covid and all, we will not have any sort of funeral or memorial service for Tom. At some time in the future we siblings may be able to get together and remember Tom -and have his passing bring us closer.
