Thomas E. Alberding passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday, September 11, 2020. Tom was born on March 9, 1944 to Christian & Martha (Reed) Alberding in Rensselaer, Indiana. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Tylka Alberding. Tylka was by his side during all of his health scares and concerns, and devoted all of her time to caring for him. She was a loving and dedicated wife to him. Tom leaves behind three grown children: Norman (Aimi) Alberding of Springfield, MO, Paula (Roger) Drake of Bloomington, IN and Anne (Mike) Britt of San Diego, CA. Along with three grown children, Tom leaves behind four grandsons: Joshua (Meghan) Drake of Kokomo, IN, Colton (Shelby) Drake of Bloomington, IN, and Logan Britt & Levi Britt of San Diego, CA. Tom also enjoyed his four great grandchildren, Joshua Drake, Jr, Myla Drake, Jaiden Drake and Jackson Drake. Tom was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Carole Ann, his sister-in-law, Sherry Goldman, his parents and one sister, Jill Alberding. Tom is also survived by his four brothers, Joe Alberding of Michigan, Lyle Alberding of Iowa, Stephen Alberding of Indiana and John Alberding of Minnesota.
Tom retired from the State of Indiana after 35 years of working in the printing and duplicating field. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and IPMA. He was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Remington High School in Remington, IN. Tom loved his children but his greatest joy was his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Tom enjoyed fishing, reading and beating his family in any card game possible. He also enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino in his younger years. Tom and Tylka enjoyed visiting Spring Mill State Park and would go quite often, until the last couple of years. They became part of the Spring Mill family with their frequent trips.
Tom never met a stranger and had an infectious personality. He will be sorely missed by all.
