Thomas E. Darling

October 21, 1941 — March 23, 2025

Thomas Darling joined his departed family in Heaven on Sunday, March 23, 2025. Thomas was born on October 21, 1941. He was preceded in death by his father Floyd Darling, mother Helen (Oakes) Darling, and brothers Richard (Pat) Darling and Norman (Nancy) Darling.

He is survived by his wife Beverley (Sowers) Darling, son Kevin (Carol) Darling, daughter Angi (Frank) Hoess, stepdaughters Chris (Jason) Hatfield, Jennifer DuDois, eight grandchildren, one step granddaughter, five great grandsons, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Tom and his brother Norman were born in Greenfield, Indiana in a building that once was a historic log cabin jail and is now a museum in Riley Park. Some of his achievements were being a member of the 1954 Greenfield Baseball Club championship team and receiving a letter in football for the 1958 Greenfield Central High School Varsity football team.

Tom entered the USAF in 1960 and served his last two years in France. In January 1965, he started working for Eli Lilly and Co. He worked as a lab Technician in several departments until his retirement in 1993.  He coached Little League baseball and football with the Lawrence Lions Club. He was also an original member, and served for eight years, of the Lawrence Police Reserves. Tom loved many sports including baseball, basketball, golf, hunting, target shooting, and auto racing. In addition, he enjoyed camping and traveling. Tom was a Master Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite.
