Teresa "Teri" Lynn Wentworth

September 5, 1953 — December 6, 2020

Teresa Lynn Wentworth, “Teri,” passed away, surrounded by her family, on December 6, 2020, at Ascension St. Vincent’s Hospital, Indianapolis after a 6 week fight due to the COVID-19 virus that ravaged her lungs.
Teri was born in Indianapolis, IN on September 5,1953, the eldest child of Don and Janie Tuttle. Teri loved her early memories of Lifegate Baptist Church, Camp Berean, St. Peter’s Lutheran School, and Sunday nights at grandma and grandpa’s house. As a teenager, Teri’s family began attending Burge Terrace Baptist Church where many of Teri’s friends attend to this day.

In 1971, Teri graduated from Heritage Christian School and eventually went on to graduate from Tennessee Temple College in 1974. Teri loved her years at Tennessee Temple and especially singing in the many choral groups. In the summers of 1973 and 1974, Teri traveled from coast to coast singing with a womens trio to promote the school and recruit students. She made many precious friends from those days of singing under Mr. Sandberg, Mrs. Brown and others. Most importantly though, she met her husband, Bill Wentworth, while singing in the Weigle Singers. They were married in 1975 and lived in Chattanooga while Bill finished up school. Teri never got far from the choirs and enjoyed working in the music department for her beloved Mrs. Donella Brown. Eventually, Teri and Bill moved back to Indianapolis where they settled into life and where Bill taught 5th grade at Heritage Christian Schools.

Teri and Bill were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Jessica and Brittany. Teri had a deep love for her daughters. She homeschooled them throughout their early school years until high school. As time went on, she loved to spend time with them whenever she had the opportunity.
One of Teri’s greatest attributes is that she made friends wherever she went, whether it was in Chicago where she received treatment for her life threatening cancer 10 years ago (she has been cancer free for 8+ years), her Summer Sisters and other bible study groups, church, vacations, quilting clubs, or even while shopping. Teri was especially fond of quilting and attended retreats annually with her mother, Janie. She always had stories to share about those special people she met. Teri attended Brookville Road Community church for many years and made many long lasting friendships.

Teri loved her family and loved being with them more than anything. From her grandparents and her ‘daddy’, as she called him, who preceded her in death, to her Mother and brothers, Tim (Melinda) and John (Karen) and their families. “Aunt Teri” was a big supporter of all her nephews and nieces. She attended most performances, weddings, birthday parties, and graduations. Teri looked so forward to holidays when the family would get together with her uncle and aunt, Bubby and Midge, and cousins, Joe and Janelle, and their families. As all of our families grew, her biggest smiles could be seen when all the family gathered together.

Teri leaves behind a gigantic hole in our family. We are devastated and will miss her deeply. But we trust and know that God is good. 2 Corinthians 1:3,4. Praise be to the God and Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we receive from God.

The family is so grateful for the outpouring of love and support from so many people from around the country.

Services for Teri are being held on Saturday, December 19th at Franklin Road Baptist Church, Indianapolis, Indiana with a time of greeting and visiting from 11:00-1:00PM and memorial service at 1:00PM. A private graveside service will be held for family at a later date. According to the CDC and state guidelines, we request attendees wear a mask and social distance when not with their group.
