Tamra Joan (St. John) Jones, 65, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Friday, April 10, 2020. She was born on Tuesday, August 31, 1954 in Lafayette, Indiana to the late Earl C. and June (Gingrich) St. John.
Tammy grew up and only child in Lafayette, Indiana and attended public school. She graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School, (Lafayette Jeff) home of the Broncos in 1972. She then attended Ivy Tech College and then attended and then graduated from Physicians Clinical Laboratory in June of 1978. She also received her Bachelor of Science in Laboratory Technician degree from Martin University. She relocated to Indianapolis in 1981. She started working for Methodist Hospital in 1982 as a Clinical Lab Technician and was there for 22 years. She took a few other lab jobs over the next few years officially retiring in 2018.
Tammy met the love of her life, Gary L. Jones Sr. in November of 1984 and then they married 5 weeks later December 21st. They spent 35 years together. Many people say if you see one of them you will see the other. They were always together, and Tammy called Gary her rock.
She was a member of Pathway Baptist Church for 12 years and served as secretary on the deaconess and minister wives ministry, and at one time was an announcement clerk.
Tammy never had any children of her own, but she was blessed with a stepson who then blessed her and Gary with 4 amazing grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Earl C. and June St. John; her sister in law, Felicia Jones; her mother in law, Charlie Ruth Jones; and father in law, Deacon Joseph Jones.
She leaves precious memories to be cherished by husband, Gary L. Jones Sr.; stepson, Jr. Jones; and four grandchildren, Gary L. Jones III (aka Tre), Raul Jones, Laila Jones, and Felicia Jones.
