Susie L. Schauer passed away peacefully July 13, 2021 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital after a long battle with cancer. She was born February 8, 1957 in Terre Haute, Indiana to the late Virgil and Martha (Hawkins) Butts.
Susie was a graduate of Yorktown High School class of 1975. She began her employment career working for her father at Midwest Bearing. She had several jobs throughout her life including Sally Mae, Clancy's Village Bowl, and more recently, Ball Memorial Hospital.
Susie enjoyed rummage sales, Kayaking the White River, and listening to music. Anyone who knew Susie knew of her love of family and all things Christmas. She decorated every year to the max, only to be outdone the following year by new purchases. Her other love, that of family, brought her a special name. Her grandkids could not say Susie so she became "Suey" or "Shuey", which she loved.
Survivors include her husband Tim Schauer; son Dusty (Erica) Gilpin; daughter Stacy Garrett; granddaughters Daisy and Maggie Craft; grandsons Dylan and Nolan Gilpin; her brother and sister-in-law Kenny and Terri Butts; her sister and brother-in-law Terry and Mike Pearson; sister-in-law Darlene Kilgore; nephews Brian (Heather) Butts and Lance Pearson; and lastly many special friends.
A special thank you to the oncology and hospice departments along with all the other "angels" Susie met along her journey from first diagnosis until her death.
Per Susie's request there will be no services and her ashes will be scattered on the beach and the Great Smokey Mountains.
