Steven Quillin passed away on December 9, 2023. He grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Steve was affectionately referred to as “Q” by his rugby buddies at Ball State. He was born on May 13, 1964. He is survived by his wife, Sheila, his son Jake and his brothers Mike (Lucy) Quillin and John (Lynn) Quillin. He has many nieces and nephews that he loved and spent time with as they grew. He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Quillin and his mother, Mary (Bella) Quillin. Steve was a loving husband, father, and uncle who was taken from his family way too soon.
Steve will always be remembered lovingly for his distinct and infectious laugh. He had a great smile and a good sense of humor. He loved to joke and have a good time with his family and friends.
He was an avid sports fan and especially loved Notre Dame football. He would attend games with his dad and his son Jake for many years.
He enjoyed playing golf and instilled a love for the sport in Jake, too. Steve spent many days on the golf course with friends having drinks, good times and lots of laughs. Steve played for many years in the Pine Valley Golf Invitational with his dad.
Steve had a very close bond with his brothers, Mike and John. During Christmas, they would reminisce about funny childhood memories, play pool or cards late into the night while enjoying a cigar or two and talking (arguing) about politics.
Steve and Sheila met at Ball State where Steve played rugby. They met hanging out with mutual friends. They were married on May 19, 1990, shortly after graduating from college and were together for more than 33 years. They loved concerts, sporting events, going to movies, going out to dinner on Friday nights, spending time with family and friends, and attending the Indy 500 as a family - later it became a father and son event each year.
Steve was happiest when he was with his family, especially watching Jake play baseball and basketball throughout his school years and watching him grow into a person he was so very proud of. Those things brought him the most joy in life. Steve was a happy go lucky soul who loved his family and friends dearly.
