Steven Robert McCallister 78, Indianapolis, IN. Formerly of Pinellas Park, Florida, passed away Saturday February 22, 2025. Steve was born in Vincennes IN, to Paul Robert McCallister and Marjorie Alice McCallister August 12, 1946.
Steve graduated from Thomas Carr Howe High School 1965. He was the President of the Baron Social Club. After high school, Steve enlisted in the United States Marine Corps 1967, serving during the Vietnam War from November 1968 to July 1969. He received a Purple Heart, Rifle Expert Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w**; Vietnam Campaign Medal wDevice, and Good Conduct Medal. He later service in the Reserve Marine Corps.
Steve married Sandra Burgess on October 6, 1967, his high school sweetheart since junior year. They had two children, Heather (Scott) Hatfield and Matthew McCallister.
Steve worked at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation in Indianapolis. He later became a Locksmith owning his own business Keystone Lock Service. He moved to Florida in the early 90’s. Where he owned Johns Pass Key Shop, until his retirement.
Steve was in the Auxiliary Coast Guard 7th Dist. Where he received accommodations for service.
Steve loved fishing. He enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada, with his family and friends. He also loved to refinish old boats and then take them out on the water.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Marjorie McCallister; sisters, Paula McCallister and Gayle (McCallister) Barnett; ex-wife, Sandra (Burgess) (McCallister) Tucker; and nephew, Christopher McCallister
Steve is survived by his children Heather (Scott) Hatfield, and Matthew McCallister; his brothers, Gregory (Linda) McCallister, Kevin (Jackie) McCallister; grandchildren, Leah McCallister, Alyssa McCallister, Quinton Hatfield, and Dalialah McCallister; and several nieces and nephews.
He will be greatly missed by all.
