Stephanie Lois Dawson

October 2, 1949 — November 14, 2024

Carmel, IN

Stephanie Lois Dawson of Indianapolis, passed beyond the veil on November 14th, 2024. She was born on October 2nd, 1949 to Orville Nathaniel and Annetta Francis (Mahone) Dawson.

Stephanie graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1967. Afterwards she graduated from Indiana Vocational Technical College in 1980, specializing in geriatrics as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Anyone who knew her knows she loved to sing! She sang with the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir for a time and any in church you found her, she was in the choir box in the alto section. Gospel, classical and soul music were commonly on her radio, and the smell of homemade bread was in the air whenever you came by.

She was baptized in Jesus Name and filled with the Holy Ghost in her youth. Her relationship with God was the lens through which she viewed the world, shaping all aspects of her life. She never met a stranger, an excellent conversationalist, she had a way of making everyone feel loved, valued and important. Invariably, God would become the subject. She couldn’t fix every issue she came across, but certainly knew the One that could.

Throughout her life, she held on to God’s unchanging hand, and taught her children and grandchildren to do the same. We are all richer for having known her, and the indelible mark she’s left on everyone she’s loved will live with us forever.

She was preceded in death by her Mother, Annetta Francis (Freeda) Dawson, her Father, Orville Nathaniel Dawson, and her Brother, Julius Dawson.

She leaves behind to carry on her legacy, her sister Stevette Kennedy, brothers Stephen, Jay, Jon and Nathan Dawson, her daughter, India Camille Dawson, her son, W. Raymond T. Dawson and his wife Sharon, her granddaughters Ailana Iman and Jayah Blessing, her grandsons William and Michael, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Praise the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens.
Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness.
Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre,
praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe,
praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals.
Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD.

Psalm 150
