Somchay Keopaseuth, 70, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on March 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on May 1, 1954, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and cherished friend. For 40 years, he shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Chanthy, filled with love, laughter, and unwavering commitment to family.
A proud veteran of the Special Guerrilla Unit (SGU), Mr. Keopaseuth bravely served during the Vietnam War. He previously served as the President of Wat Lao in Louisville, Kentucky, where he was deeply respected within the community. In his free time, he enjoyed playing paiy, fishing, watching Thai boxing, soccer, and most of all, being a devoted grandparent. He treasured his retirement years, spending time with loved ones and sharing joy with friends and family. He courageously fought a brief but hard battle with Cholangiocarcinoma (a rare type of cancer that develops in the bile ducts) before passing peacefully.
He is survived by his wife, Chanthy Keopaseuth; his children, Van Phommahaxay, Phanit Keopaseuth (Kensy), Kitsana Keopaseuth (Michael), and Linda Knott; and his grandchildren Phan, Kody, Gabby, Ashton, Zoey, Aubrey, Zavier, Zane, Ja'Zyah, and Aniya.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Souvanna Keopaseuth, and his son in law, Anthony Knott.
Mr. Keopaseuth's legacy of love, strength, and generosity will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. His family and friends take comfort in knowing he is at peace and will be honored through these sacred traditions.
