Solomon Johnson Jr.

Solomon Johnson Jr, 78, of North Parker Avenue, Indianapolis, IN departed this life at 5:00pm on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Community North Hospital. He passed away with his loving & devoted wife, Dixie, by his bedside. Solomon was born to the union of Viola (Davis) Johnson and Solomon Johnson Sr. on February 17, 1944 in Evansville, IN. On April 29, 1973 in Dowjacki, Michigan, Solomon was united in marriage to Dixie Ann (Pompey) Johnson who survives. He also leaves to cherish his loving memories one daughter, Jackie Strickland of Indianapolis, IN; two sons, Douglas Pompey of Indianapolis, IN and Solomon Johnson III of Valparaiso, IN; 8 grand-children, Justin(Kristina), Brandon, Keisha(Kyle), Anton(Courtney), Alexis, Leo, Violet, Gia; 9 great-grand-children, Caleb, Naven, Mya, Jhase, Georgia, Navia, Magnolia, Everette, Ari Jacque; 3 sisters, Wanda Green & Sharon Townsel of Indianapolis, IN; Terry Seawood of Tallassee, AL; 1 brother, Eugene Johnson of Evansville, IN along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.

Solomon was preceded in death by both parents, Solomon Johnson Sr. & Viola Johnson, 2 brothers, Chester Rowan & Paul (Josephine) Johnson both of Indianapolis, IN.

Solomon attended Central High School in Evansville, IN where he played football. He later held jobs at Central State, and then Kroger Bakery, where he retired from after 35 years of service. Solomon enjoyed cooking where his specialty was Chocolate pie. His passion was playing golf, where he participated in several amateur competitions, and watching Tiger Wood play golf. Solomon enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family & friends.

Solomon will be remembered by many of us for many reasons, but he will be remembered by his family as an amazing, caring & loving husband and father.
