Shirley Diane Young

Shirley Diane Young departed her loving friends and family at the age of 74 on Thursday, December 28, 2023, in Fortville, IN where she resided.

Shirley was born in Indianapolis, IN on August 15, 1949, to Rosalie Bell and William Isaac Ferrand Sr. She had two brothers William Isaac Ferrand Jr., Robert Charles Ferrand, and a sister Nancy Ann (Ferrand) Branigin. She attended Fishers High School. In her youth, she enjoyed ice skating, swimming, riding motorcycles, dancing, and racing cars. She was fearless. Shirley married Robert Ace Young on July 24, 1977, in St. Augustine, FL.

Shirley was mother to Heather and Sarah. She raised her children with love and devotion in St. Augustine, FL, and Fortville, IN, with her husband, Robert.

Shirely had a few occupations throughout her lifetime, such as receptionist, sales associate, and entrepreneur and was known for her kindness, outgoing personality, and was a joy to be around. Shirley did not know a stranger, she could befriend anyone and made those around her feel important. Her hobbies included: photography, gardening, playing piano, embroidery, sewing, cross-stitching, and making things with her hands. Shirley sold her artisan crafts at local shops. Shirley had a strong faith in Jesus Christ. Shirley and Robert were part of a gospel group, Boldness Unlimited, and traveled the country playing gospel music. She made Jesus the foundation of her home.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Heather (Brad) Dawson of Whitestown, grandchildren, Dallas Garland, and Bella Dawson, and sister, Nancy (David) Branigin. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Robert Ace Young, August 5, 2017, her daughter, Sarah Ann Young, June 11, 2022, her two brothers, William Ferrand and Robert Ferrand and her niece, Angela Doty.

A celebration of life service will be held at Indy Vineyard Church, 8383 Craig St., Indianapolis, IN, on January 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. There will be visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
