Sheila Ann Jeter Johnson passed away on January 12, 2021.

Sheila was born on March 4, 1952, in Indianapolis, Indiana to parents Linzie and Helen Jeter. She completed her elementary and middle school education at St. Bridget’s Catholic School. Sheila made the self-described difficult transition to Shortridge High School, where she graduated in 1971. Sheila furthered her education by attending IUPUI and later graduated from Martin University. Sheila had a lengthy career working for General Motors. In 1993, she transferred to the Janesville, Wisconsin plant, but chose to reside in Rockford, Illinois. Sheila retired in 1997.

She married Lawrence Johnson on April 20, 1980. They later dissolved this union but subsequently reconnected and remarried in June of 1992. They remained married until his death on July 5, 2011. To be closer to family and friends, Sheila moved back to Indianapolis in 2013.

Sheila enjoyed singing, reading and writing poetry. She also enjoyed several years as an avid motorcycle owner and rider.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; and brother, Eddie Jeter, Sr. Survivors include daughter, Shelette Veal; grandson, Evan Veal; nephews, Eddie Jeter Jr. and Desmond Jeter; aunts; Mary V. Beck and Lavada Newsom; former son-in-law, Keith Veal; as well as numerous cousins and friends.
