Shawn Loren Young

Shawn Loren Young was born in Trenton, NJ April 23, 1965. She then moved to Indianapolis, IN at the age of 12.

Shawn attended Warren Central High School, where she graduated. After high school, she worked and attended Indiana Wesleyan University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree.

Shawn worked at Roche Diagnostics, after leaving Roche she began her career at Indy Lighting Group (formerly Juno Lighting). She worked there for 28 years in various roles, lastly as the Director of Operations.

Shawn was an avid reader, who would read 2-3 books a week. She would often try to get her husband Cedric to read as well. However, he would tell her “I will wait for the movie!” Anyone who knew Shawn knew she enjoyed a good bottle of wine! Shawn also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and any time she could…traveling to her favorite place, the Beach! Shawn enjoyed decorating and had an eye for fashion. Shawn was a go–getter and the family’s biggest cheerleader who always wanted her family and employees to do and be their best. She was a Mentor and volunteer for Dress for Success, always volunteering in their yearly fundraiser.

She was preceded in death by her son Kyle Young and her father Francis Sembly.

God called Shawn home, Wednesday September 7, 2022 at the age of 57. Shawn leaves to cherish her memory: husband of 33 years Cedric Young; sons, Cedric L. Young & Spencer M. Young; step-daughter, Arielle Young; daughter Cydney P. Young; grandson, Ethan Young; mothers, Sharon D. Sembly and Mary Sembly; brothers, Aaron (Kelly) Sembly & Steven (Terri) Sawyer; sister, Taylor (Mark) Wright. A host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Most of all her loyal and faithful guard dog Max.
