Sean Patrick Kennedy, has passed away at the age of 51 in Franklin, IN on October 10, 2023. Surrounded by his loving family, Sean's departure has left a void that will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born on January 4, 1972, in Alamogordo, NM, Sean, also known as Hoss or Big Hoss, was a vibrant and charismatic individual throughout his life. An avid football enthusiast, he found great joy in watching games and cheering for his favorite teams - the Miami Hurricanes, Miami Dolphins, and the Colts. His passion for the sport was infectious, and it brought friends and family together during many memorable game days.
But Sean was much more than a football fanatic; he will be remembered for his mischievous sense of humor and his ability to light up any room. A natural prankster, he loved making others smile and laugh with his playful antics. Known as a true life-of-the-party character, Sean never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Despite presenting himself as a tough guy, those close to him knew that behind that exterior was an individual with an incredibly kind heart. Many referred to him affectionately as a gentle giant or a big teddy bear.
As much as Sean enjoyed entertaining others with his pranks, he cherished time spent with loved ones more than anything else. He found immense happiness riding his motorcycle with his wife Michelle, taking her on fancy dinner dates that were filled with laughter and love. Additionally, Sean had a passion for coaching football and took great pride in mentoring young athletes. He coached his own children Pat and Bo, and his nephew, Tyler.
Music held a special place in his heart as well. Sean would often break out into song regardless of whether anyone was listening or not. His love for singing was contagious and brought joy to those around him. Another pastime he enjoyed was shooting pool, engaging in friendly competition while connecting with friends.
Sean's greatest accomplishment and source of pride was his family. He loved his wife Michelle who he would call Shell Bear with unwavering devotion, and their bond was an inspiration. They shared a deep connection rooted in love, laughter, and shared adventures. His children Jayme, Patrick, and Bo held a special place in his heart, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Sean's role as a grandfather to Rex and Auggie brought him immense joy and fulfillment.
Sean is survived by his wife, Michelle; children, Jayme (Colin) Riessen, Patrick, and Bo, grandchildren, Rex and Auggie; his sister, Jenny (Tim) Chapman; his mother, Janet Hardesty; his nephew, Tyler; nieces, Kayla and Savanna; along with other extended family members.
Sean is preceded in death by his father, Pat Kennedy, uncle, Tom Canterberry; grandparents, Rufus and Evelyn Canterberry; along with other extended family members.
To honor Sean's memory and celebrate the life he lived, a memorial gathering will be held on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Indiana Funeral Care, Greenwood Chapel, located at 2433 E. Main St., starting at 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Following this gathering will be a Celebration of Life 7:00 beginning at 7 PM, where friends and loved ones can come together to share stories, memories, and pay their respects.
Sean Patrick Kennedy will forever be remembered as a vibrant spirit who brought joy and laughter to those around him. His kindness, humor, and zest for life touched the hearts of many. As we mourn the loss of this remarkable individual, let us also celebrate the beautiful legacy he leaves behind. May his soul find eternal peace as we hold onto cherished memories of our dear friend.
