Sarah Jo Madren of Indianapolis passed away March 21, 2024. She was born December 12th, 1937, in Anderson, Indiana to her parents Maurice and Minola Sylvester.
Sarah graduated from Anderson High School in 1955. She attended Sunday school at a very young age. As a teenager at church camp, she accepted Jesus as her Savior. Sarah was married at the age of 20 to her loving husband of 65 years, William Madren. She had two children, six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Sarah enjoyed organizing collections, fishing, playing cards, sewing, crafts and doing puzzles. She was an active member of Sunnyside Road Baptist Church in Indianapolis. She enjoyed volunteering at the church and numerous places over the years, helping others in need.
When asked by one of her great grandchildren what one piece of advice she would pass along she said, “You need to know Jesus.” Sarah’s prayer has always been that her family, friends and neighbors would believe in Jesus.
Sarah is survived by her husband William Madren; her brother Melvin Sylvester; her two children; Cindy Wood and Mike Madren; her grandchildren; Laura Kauth, Zachary Madren, Daniel Wood, Christopher Madren, Joshua Madren and Justin Madren; her great grandchildren; Caylyn Roddy, Rome Kauth, Mykenzie Madren, Khloe Madren, Landon Madren and Lily Madren.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Judy Carter, Nora Shaffer, and Melva Tegge.
Family and friends may show their loving support and celebrate Sarah’s life at Meadow Brook Baptist Church 119 E. 36th St. Anderson, Indiana, on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. Visitation will be from 10AM till 11AM with Funeral Service and Burial to follow. Sarah will be laid to rest in the Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery, 6805 Doctor M.L.K. Jr Blvd, Anderson, IN 46013.
There will be a luncheon at the Church after the Burial.
