Sara Jane Luckett Opel was born in Paoli, Indiana and lived in Cumberland, Indiana.
She is proceeded by her husband of over 61 years , James “Big Jim” Opel.
Sara was an avid player of bridge. She and Jim played in monthly bridge clubs most of their adult lives. Sara also played in a weekly ladies bridge club for the last several years. She enjoyed spending time traveling, gardening and taking cruises. Sara will be greatly missed by her family, friends, neighbors and bridge club.
Surviving Sara are her four children: Douglas(wife Carla), Melissa, Jeffrey(wife Mary) and Mark(wife Stacey). Five grandchildren: Jared, Matthew, Jacob, Jennifer and Amber and also two great grandchildren: Jolie and Jentry.
A joint celebration of life will be held for Sara and Jim Opel at a later date due to corona virus concerns and protocol.
