Samuel Neal Woods was born August 15, 1936 in Monroe, Louisiana to the union Leon and Gladys Woods. He was educated in the Monroe school system.
Upon his move to Indianapolis, Sam worked for 23 years at Fairmount Glass Company until it closed down in the 80’s. After retiring, he managed State Discount Liquor at 25th and Delaware.
Sam Woods was a God fearing, family loving, dedicated, hardworking man who loved to dance and have a good time with friends and family. He would often be heard singing his favorite song by Charlie Wilson’s “I’m Blessed” at the top of his lungs.
One of his favorite sayings was “I’m blessed and I lived a good life.”
Samuel Neal Woods departed this life on Sunday, January 29, 2023. His father Leon Woods, mother Gladys Woods-Lewis and brother Leon Woods Jr, preceded him in death.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory: sons, James Jones (Shawn), Samuel L Woods-Scott; daughter, Shana Woods; grandson, Caleb Jones; granddaughters, Brianna Jones, Brooklyn Isbel, Carli Woods; great-grandson, Camron J. Calhoun; brothers, James Woods, Lawrence Woods, Douglas Jenkins, sisters, Alice Maxwell, Janie Marie Saucer; a host of relatives and friends.
