Sally (Goff) Mitchell

December 6, 1944 — April 2, 2024

Pendleton

Sally (Goff) Mitchell, 79, of Fortville passed away April 2, 2024. On December 6, 1944, Otto and Jane Goff welcomed the arrival of their youngest child, Sally.

The family resided in Pendleton, Indiana. Sally attended Pendleton schools and graduated from Pendleton High School in 1963 with Ball State University as her next stop. After one year she started her work journey in Indianapolis, IN. Sally met her husband, Jim, while they were both working in Indianapolis and they wed on October 29, 1966. Sally and Jim's next journey took them to Germany while he served in the Army. While in Germany, they welcomed their daughter, Wendy. When the family returned to Indiana they settled into family life. As Sally settled into the new chapter of her life, as a wife and mother, she also started a life of creativity and continual learning. Along with her love for her pets and her love of music; she was an amazing cook, worked embroidery, was a talented gardener, seamstress, hostess to friends and family and enjoyed decorating. Sally volunteered for many years at Conner Prairie and one of her many talents was evident in creating beautiful displays for the museum's gift shop. She also read to children with reading problems, along with her best friend, her dog, Ariel. Sally had a big heart. She cared for her family, close and extended, and for those in need.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Jane Goff; her brother, Thomas Goff; sister, Linda (Goff) (Kramer) Franklin; daughter, Wendy; stepson, Jimmy Mitchell, and an infant granddaughter, Abigail.

Sally is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Jim; her sister, Judy (Goff) Snider; grandson, Christopher Kuhstoss; granddaughters, Ali Kuhstoss and Tara Long; and several nieces and nephews.

Sally leaves this world wrapped in the love of her family and friends. "And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance."
