Ms. Sally Noreen Brown, 75 years of age, born July 18, 1949, in Waterbury, Connecticut, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the cherished daughter of Irene L. Johnson Hogan and the late William Henry Brown Sr.

Sally spent her formative years in Connecticut, attending schools in Bantam, Litchfield, and Trumbull. In late 2002, she relocated to Indianapolis to be closer to her family. Professionally she spent several years in service as an executive legal secretary. Sally was also a versatile, dedicated jack-of-all trades individual. Her creativity and wisdom were evident in all she did, especially in her passion for sewing, crocheting, knitting, and cooking. She had a unique talent for crafting personalized gifts that reflected the recipient’s personality and her own heartfelt sentiments, a testament to her thoughtfulness and care.

A self-taught seamstress, Sally had a remarkable ability to bring her visions to life, creating beautiful, bespoke items from scratch. Her handmade gifts, including clothing, outerwear, afghans, scarves, and hats, are treasured by her friends and family, each one thoughtfully designed with the recipient’s favorite colors and personality in mind.

Sally, fondly called Sal and Auntie Sally, was a pillar of strength, dedication, and love. She will be deeply missed by all who know her. Her legacy of kindness and creativity will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Irene Johnson Hogan and William Henry Brown Sr.; her brothers, William Henry Brown Jr. and Ronald F. Brown Sr.; her sister, Roberta L. (Brown) Smith.

Auntie Sally is lovingly remembered by her nephew, Michael Smith (Jr.), and his partner, Rebecca; her nieces, Kali (Smith) Flores and Dana Washington; her grand-nephew, Niko Flores; her grand-nieces, Samantha Flores, Kai Flores, Olivia Flores, Sophia Flores, and Kayla Washington; as well as siblings fostered by God, Elder Theresa Ellis (Deacon Willie Ellis, David Bruce (Phyllis Duncan, Daren Jenkins (Kimberly Jenkins), and Burton Carter (Serena Carter).out-of-state nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews and a host of very special friends.

Auntie Sally’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her, like the fleeting yet unforgettable beauty of the butterfly.
