Ryan Jeffrey Harker, 34, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on October 15, 2019.
He was born in Indianapolis, IN to Jeffrey and Linda Harker on October 1, 1985. Ryan graduated from North Central High School, Indianapolis, IN, in 2004, where he participated in varsity Hockey and Lacrosse, winning the state championship in Men’s Hockey his senior year. Ryan attended Indiana University, Bloomington IN, after high school and was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity.

Ryan was a member of the Hoosier Chapter of the BMW Car Club of America, and participated in driving and racing events at various tracks around the country. He was proud to take over the care of his father’s limited edition BMW M3 CSL, and was an accomplished student and instructor for the club. He loved being in the garage, and was well known to be a great mechanic and detailer for BMW cars.

Ryan played on adult hockey leagues throughout the years and loved going on skiing or fishing trips with friends. Like all other sports, he picked up golf easily and it quickly became one of his passions in life. Ryan grew up being an avid Indiana University Basketball fan and enjoyed utilizing his parent’s season tickets to attend games after college. He was also an audiophile who enjoyed collecting and playing vinyl records. Ryan grew up with two chocolate Labrador retrievers, Duke and Bentley, and loved them both dearly. He was also fond of and helped care for his “adopted brother” dog, Cooper, the Great Dane.

Ryan is preceded in death by is father, Dr. R. Jeffrey Harker M.D., P.h.D. of Indianapolis, and all four of his grandparents. He is survived by his mother, Linda R. Harker of Indianapolis, and his sister Lauren Harker Reid of Dallas, TX.

A gathering in celebration of his life will be held at the Shi Kay Lounge, in Irvington, IN on Saturday, October 19th, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made in Ryan’s memory to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (afsp.org).
