Ruth A. Satkamp, 68, Indianapolis, Indiana passed away Monday, February 3, 2020 at University Heights Rehab and Living Community.
Born Tuesday, April 24, 1951 to Donald and Helen G. (Horrall) Creech in Indianapolis, Indiana, Ruth grew up on the near east side and went to Arsenal Technical High School. In the early 70s, she moved to the Greenwood area where she raised her family, and has lived there since. She worked as a sales clerk at Central Hardware for many years.
Ruth was very artistic and enjoyed plants, gardening, drawing, painting, and crafts. She had an eye for color and excelled at almost anything creative. In her retirement years, she loved drinking iced tea (heavy on the ice) and was never happier than when she out-won her mom on one of their many casino trips. QVC and Home Shopping Network are in mourning as they have lost a great deal of revenue with her passing. Her favorite accessories were jewelry, a McDonald’s cup filled with ice, and her cell phone.
Ruth got her way much of the time because of her children’s natural-born guilty consciences. That was okay though. They fussed at each other a lot, but at the end of the day, the bond was strong. She gave both of her kids some really funny stories to tell. Funny because they’re true and funny because they’re only funny after they’re not funny. She even had them running errands for her from heaven. Ask if you want to know that story! She will be dearly missed and we’ll carry our love for her in our hearts for the rest of our lives.
She is survived by son, Bryan Genier of Indianapolis, Indiana; daughter, Heather Morris of Greenwood, Indiana; mother, Helen G. Creech of Indianapolis, Indiana; brother, Ronald Creech and his wife Cheryl of Bargersville, Indiana; sisters, Linda Waltman and her husband Steve of Indianapolis, Indiana, Kim Shipley and her significant other Eric of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Ruth is preceded in death by her father, Donald Creech; and brother, Thomas Creech.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 13, 2020 from 4-6:30 p.m. at Indiana Funeral Care, Greenwood Chapel.
Memorial service will begin at 6:30 p.m.
