Ruby Gene Black, 74, of Indianapolis, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. Ruby was born on March 1, 1947, in Sebastopol, Mississippi to the late Charlie and Essie Williams.
Ruby later moved to Indianapolis, Indiana with her family. She attended the Indianapolis Public School #42 and Shortridge High School.
Always a hard worker, Ruby worked throughout her life. She was employed at Indianapolis Public Schools for over 20 years, Navistar and Marion County Sheriff Department.
Ruby professed her hope in Christ Jesus at an early age. She loved her family, singing and hosting family reunions. Her favorite song was “When you hear my homegoing, don’t worry about me”.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Daughter Carol A. Miller, Son Terrance D. Miller, and Great Grandson Zion Smith.
She is survived by her three children: LaShone Miller (Belinda), Jocelin “Joyce” and Treq Miller; Twelve Grandchildren; Three Great-Grandchildren, one devoted sister Essie Terry, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation with family on Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 10-12 p.m. and a Private Service for family at 12 p.m. at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, Indiana.
The family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation and heartfelt gratitude the many comforting prayers, messages, flowers, cards and other expressions of kindness and concern evidenced at this time.
