Roy C. Smith III

Roy C. "Corky" Smith III age 77, passed away at home Wednesday morning, May 20, 2020 at 11am, He resided in Fishers, IN.

He was born March 4, 1943 in Springfield, IL. to his parents Roy C. Smith, JR. and Myrtle (Burris) Smith. He went to Feitshan's High School and would go on to work for Castors Supermarket and Kyle's Locker Plant, where he learned his trade as a talented meat cutter, He applied his trade and expanded into sales with Consumer MG Products, Tri State Foods and Danvers Packing Company, where he managed the sales department at each. After moving to Indiana, Corky reinvented himself and was very successful in the insurance industry with various brokerage companies.

He had a great love of his family and his country and the only thing that could even come close was the time that he spent racing cars and attending races. Over the years, he purchased and resold classic cars. Corky also loved Blues and Rock music, both listening to and attending live performances.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Nancy J. Smith of Fishers, IN, his son Roy C. Smith IV, of Westfield, IN, his daughter Angela E. Hawthorne of Vandalia, OH, his son Dion C. Smith of Bloomington, IL and his daughter Miranda J Redstone of Fishers, IN, as well as Michael Redstone of Noblesville, IN. Corky is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his 5 brothers and 4 sisters as well a host of nieces, nephews, and an abundance of much loved friends.

Roy was preceded in death by his father Roy Smith, JR. his mother Myrtle Smith, his grandson Brandon Hawthorne and his best friend through life, Freddy Groves.
