Ronald Paul Olsen Sr.

Ronald Paul Olsen Sr. of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 of congestive heart failure at Wellbrooke of Carmel. He was born September 26, 1931 in New York City, New York. He was the son of John Henry Olsen and Margaret Irene (Connor) Olsen. Ron always saw himself as a quintessential New Yorker even after having lived in Indiana for close to 30 years. Growing up In New York, he met the person who would become the love of his life, Valerie Jean Olsen. They married in 1953 and enjoyed 68 years together. Ron enjoyed international travel, fine red wine and crossword puzzles. He is survived by his wife, Valerie, his son, Ronald P. Olsen Jr., his daughter-in-law Brooke Olsen, and his two grandchildren: Andrew Olsen and Lindsey Olsen. He was very involved in his grandchildren’s early years and was much beloved by them. Ron had a way of lighting up the room with his sense of humor and will be missed by all who knew him. A private funeral service for immediate family and close friends will be held Thursday, September 16 at 11 am at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers, it is asked that donations be made in memory of Ronald Paul Olsen Sr. to the American Heart Association.
