Romel Jean Montgomery

September 4, 1950 — November 27, 2022

Noblesville

Romel Jean (Hubbard) Montgomery of Noblesville, Indiana had been in hospice until her death on November 27, 2022 at her home with her beloved husband Booker T Montgomery of 50 years and their three children, Melea Deaver, Jonathan Montgomery, Jemea Deeter. She was 72 years old.
Romel was born September 4, 1950 in Blakely, Georgia to Bradford and Rommie Hubbard.
From an early age, Romel had a spiritual thirst. Her Sunday attendance at the family’s local church made her desire to search deeper to know just who God is. At the youthful age of nine, she sat under a tree one afternoon and prayed, “God, Jesus, whoever you are, I want to know you”. Within two days a missionary, one of Jehovah’s witnesses knocked on her parents door. Her mother agreed to a bible study. From that day forward, young Romel’s spiritual progress blossomed as she learned the Bible’s answers to her questions.
Romel dedicated her life to Jehovah vowing to share the message of his kingdom to many she came into contact with. She was baptized on May 13, 1962. She entered the full time ministry in 1968 fulfilling her desire to make a success of her singleness in serving her God, Jehovah.
Some of the additional privileges of service Romel took advantage of was serving as an interior decorator on many Kingdom Hall projects as well as providing her skills at Assembly Halls of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was asked to coordinate and provide the live floral arrangements for the 2014 International Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses held at Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Indiana.
Romel was confined to a hospital and rehabilitation center for one month in the spring of 2022. She lost her ability to speak due to a stroke. Still, she found ways to communicate with her care givers about her faith. Her family asked that her numerous friends and acquaintances not visit due to the COVID19 epidemic. She was unhappy with that decision. When entering hospice, she insisted that her doors be opened to those who wanted to visit her. It was a time for her to have an interchange of encouragement as many friends and family members visited with her. During the last three weeks of her life she held true to her vow of serving her God Jehovah by presenting his Kingdom message to all of her care givers.
Romel will be deeply missed, especially by her husband, Booker Montgomery and their three children Melea Deaver, Jonathan Montgomery and Kim Deeter. Her Grandsons, Addison and Ian Deeter considered their Grandmother more than a grandmother. She was a very close and dear friend. They will miss her wit and humor but mostly the love they shared. Romel’s love for her two son-in-laws, Thomas Deeter and Daniel Deaver and daughter-in-law Deidra Lawler Montgomery was unique. They shared a love as if they were her own children. They will miss the bond of respect, joy, closeness, spiritual refreshment and kindness Romel shared with each of them.
Romel’s siblings have expressed the emotional toll her death has brought upon them. Missing her has been difficult for her brothers, Salah Hanif, Jerome Hubbard, Gregory Hubbard, Joe Nathan Hubbard, Elliott Hubbard and sisters, Lillian Jefferson, Betty Townsell, Clara Hubbard, Bevelyn Sawyer. Two of her brothers preceded her in death, Alphonso Hubbard and Alonzo Hubbard. Romel’s family is extensive with names too many to mention. They too have expressed sorrow for the loss of their dear Romel.
Romel’s favorite Kingdom Melodies Song (written by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society) was Song #3, Our Strength, Our Hope, Our Confidence (Proverbs 14:26). Strength, Hope and Confidence is how she will be remembered for that is what she had in her creator, Jehovah.
A Memorial Service will be held in person and via zoom on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 19100 Allisonville Road, Noblesville, IN 46060 at 1pm et. Zoom
