Roger Earl Dearing, 87, went to be with his lord on May 7, 2020 after an extended battle with cancer.
He was born November 27, 1932 to Bronna Earl and Retta Hazel Dearing in BonAyr, KY.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Susan J., brothers William E. and Harold L. Dearing; step-son, Michael Koesters.
Survivors include older twin Sister, Betty J. Calvert, son Denny (Donna), daughters Diana Dearing and Kim Miller (Joe), Kevin Koesters (Betty). Roger was blessed with grandchildren Darcey Back (Matt), Drew Dearing (Megan), Derek Dearing, Jason Yazell and Christina Miller. He has two great-grandsons Bentley and Jaxon Dearing, in addition to many beloved nieces and nephews.
Roger moved to Indianapolis at the age of 14 and began attending Morris Street United Methodist Church, following his love of Christ there for the rest of his life.
After service in the U.S. Army, most of his life was spent as a self-employed owner of businesses in the automotive industry.
Roger was an avid lover of his family, church, classic autos, and gospel music. He rarely missed Sundays at Morris Street but there were times that the Newport, IN Antique Hill Climb, the Auburn, IN Labor Day auction or NASCAR in Daytona and Phoenix would make him adjust his schedule. His love of automobiles was genetically transferred to his son, grandsons and now his great-grandsons. He was very proud of that, especially with keeping the family tradition of the Newport Hill Climb alive. He also dearly loved his weekly gospel sings at the local coffee house with his closest friends.
Services will be held on Tuesday May 11th with a viewing at 10:00 a.m., services at 11:00 followed by burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Greenwood.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Morris Street United Methodist Church, 335 East Morris Street, Indianapolis, IN 46225.
