Robert Wilcoxon

May 13, 1947 — September 4, 2023

Robert James Wilcoxon, 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on September 4th, 2023. He was born in Indianapolis to Samuel A. and Evelyn Castetter Wilcoxon.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Samuel M. Wilcoxon.

He leaves behind to treasure his memory his loving partner, Ron Freeman; adoring nephew, Samuel S. Wilcoxon and family; niece, Cherly Ann and husband Nathan; Aunt Barbara Rynard and Uncle Frank Rynard, as well as many great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

Robert graduated from Whiteland Community High School in 1965. His chosen career of being a hairdresser lasted over 40 years and even after he retired, his artistry was such that he still had requests from his many loyal customers and family and friends.

Along with his dry wit, Robert had a huge heart. He showed kindness to so many people over the years who often would be deemed unworthy by others.

Long before he received his certification as a Master Gardener, he was creating beautiful gardens. Wherever he lived, he left his signature beauty. It wasn't unusual to see complete strangers stopping and taking pictures of his flowers.

The family wishes to thank the Hazel Stewart family, Scott especially, for their love of Robert over the years.

If you would like to honor Robert, please consider either becoming a vegetarian (which would make him very happy), making a donation to The Damien Center on his behalf, or simply doing something kind for someone else and thinking of him!

His legacy of love, kindness, and artistry will never be forgotten!

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

Indiana Funeral Care is entrusted with arrangements.
