Robert Shepherd

Robert Lee Shepherd, 87, of Greenfield, IN went home to be with his Lord and Savior while surrounded by family on July 5, 2022.  Born in Summitville, IN on September 3,1934 to Emerson and Mary (Bird) Shepherd.  

 

In his career, Bob served in the United States Army and worked for 43 years at Delco Remy in Anderson, IN as a Tool and Die Machinist.  He was a prayer warrior to say the least who deeply loved the Lord, his family and friends.  He never met a stranger and there never was a time he didn’t help others. It just wasn’t in his nature not to. He loved his younger days in racing and working on his hotrod, playing the guitar and banjo and singing in church.  He had a talent of captivating everyone's attention with his animated, humorous and unending stories.  

 

Robert “Bob-Ole Shep” is survived by his wife of 49 years, Masel (Coffman) Shepherd, children: Johnny (Vicki) Olvey, Christopher Shepherd, Christy (Monte) Thacker, Rebecca Shepherd-Nester, Amy (Mark) Frost, Mark Olvey, Lisa (Blair) Beals, Benjamin Shepherd, 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents Emerson and Mary (Bird) Shepherd, his brother Harold Shepherd, and two sisters Rosemary (Shepherd) Hayes and June (Shepherd) Mollenkopf, his wife Jeannette (Springer) Shepherd and son David Shepherd..

 

Visitation will take place at Bethel Baptist Church, 1610 S. State St, Greenfield, IN, Friday, July 15, 3:00-5:00 p.m.

 

Life Celebration Service will be at Bethel Baptist Church on Saturday, July 16, 10:00-11:00 a.m.

 

Graveside Prayer and Military Honors for Robert and son David will be at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, 9088 W. County Road 1025 S, Fortville, IN on Saturday, July 16, at 2:00 p.m.

Everyone is welcome to attend.  

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Central Eastern Carolinas Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of Bob's great granddaughter, Boston Olvey.
