Robert Lee Potter, 86, of Indianapolis, was born in 1934, in Brookfield, Michigan to Carl and Edith Potter. Bob was a proud graduate of Jackson College (2 yrs) and Michigan State University where he received his Associate Degree (AA, AS). Bob married his love, Diane (Lietz) Potter, in 1983 and stayed happily married for 37 years up until the time of his passing. Bob finally left us on May 9th 2020 after his 5 year battle with cancer.
Bob instilled the love of travel and strength into all his children. Bob is survived by his wife Diane and his children Renee Potter, Bradley (Kimberly) Potter, Brian Potter, Karol Lahrman, Kim McAdams, Karla Williams and, and was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, who were all very dear to his heart.
Bob was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he served as a drill
sergeant. Bob was employed by Sears Roebuck and Company for 31 years as a member of the management team and retired in 1990. After retiring from Sears, Bob stayed busy doing his hobby of remodeling and home maintenance and was our best handyman ever. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Mt Vernon Sportsman Club, and the American Legion. Bob love swimming and diving, DIY projects and mostly enjoyed spending time with his wife, kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Bob will be placed to rest at Opdyke Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, with other family members. Bob’s heart was one of generosity, kindness and love and he will truly be missed by all those who loved him.
