Robert Hilleary Johns went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday. October 24th, 2023. Robert Johns was born on Tuesday, October 5th, 1954, in Olney Maryland to William Brooke Johns II and Marilyn Whittaker Johns who proceeded him in death.
Robert was a truck driver for Montgomery County Maryland liquor board for ten years before entering a retirement disability. Robert is survived by his wife of 30 years Leslie Corley Johns of Indianapolis; two sons Darren and Tyler, both of Indianapolis; sisters Lucy Johns Bassin of Baltimore, Maryland and Darrell Jackson of Orlando, Florida. He is proceeded in death by his brother, William Brooke Johns III.
Robert and his family are recent transplants to Indianapolis to be near family after living in Fulton County Pennsylvania for 23.5 years.
Robert had a fondness for antiques of variety of kinds but had a fondness for clocks. Robert had the expectation that all clocks in every location of a home regardless of if he lived in that home to be the exact time. If clocks were not at the same time, he would tinker with the clocks until they were. Robert was also tech adverse, but in recent years had developed a fascination with eBay on his iPad or as he called it his “pink phone”.
Lastly, Robert was a devoted animal lover of all kinds, when he lived in rural Pennsylvania, he could be found sitting in the dining room table with a pair of binoculars watching deer, turtles, and his favorite animal, crows.
Robert has expressed a desire to not have a funeral service. The family will have a private gathering later to celebrate the life and memory of Robert Hilleary Johns.
