Robert Gene Gerrish

December 1, 1936 — December 3, 2020

Robert Gene Gerrish, was born December 1, 1936 to Harlow and Thelma Zeller Garrish in Indianapolis, Indiana. He went on to join his loved ones waiting in heaven on December 3, 2020.
Bob honorably served his country in the United States Army for 20 years, retiring as a Staff Sargent in 1978. He spent many years abroad during his time in the Army including Vietnam, Ethiopia, and Egypt. Following his retirement Bob settled in California.
He was married and had 4 children; William Gerrish, Jr., Virginia Gerrish, Anthony Gerrish, Lee Gerrish; and 3 grandchildren. He had three brothers, Courtney Gerrish, William Gerrish, Pat Gerrish; and one sister who have all preceded him in death.
Robert later met Cheryl while she was working at Marsh grocery, they dated for two years and were married October 18, 2016 at Post Road Christian Church. Bob later gave his life to Christ in that same church and was baptized on October 10, 2017.
In June of 2017 he was diagnosed with bladder cancer and came through a successful surgery. In early 2020, the cancer returned and had spread to his bones. He went home to be with Cheryl, their 2 dogs and cockateel. The Lord gave them the peace and strength to go through the treatment in their home with the help of hospice.
Bob enjoyed bowling, read, and crossword puzzle and going to shows at Beef and Boards dinner theater. The Chicago cubs was his favorite baseball team and he and his favorite friend enjoyed watching the games together on TV.
He will be dearly missed by those he leaves behind to cherish his memory.
