Robert B. "Bob" Johnson

Robert B. “Bob” Johnson, Sr., age 75, passed away Tuesday evening, March 17, at 7:43pm at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. He resided in Greenwood.

He was born March 29, 1944 in Nashville, IN. to his parents William C. and Thelma (Woodmansee) Johnson. He went to Nashville High School and would go on to work for Cummins Engine Company till he was laid off and went on to start his career as a truck driver and eventually own his own trucking company. He also served in the 1313 Engineering Company of the Indiana National Guard.

He had a great love of his family, God, and his country and the only thing that could even come close was the time that he spent on a baseball and softball field with his kids. Over the years he became a fixture in the community as a coach for a great number of kids and simply became known as Coach Bob. He also loved Gospel music, both singing and listening to it.

He is survived by his son Robert B. (Amy) “Bobby” Johnson, Jr. of Grand Blanc, MI and his daughter Tracy L. (Kenneth) Johnson of Greenwood, IN. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind a cherished niece Peggy Asher who spent several days and nights helping Bob and Pam as their health declined in their later years. He also leaves behind his brother Nelson (Glenda) Johnson of Kokomo, IN and his sister Winifred (Gary) Cave of Peoga, IN and a host of nieces, nephews, and plethora of much loved friends.

Bob was preceded in death by the love of his life, best friend, and his partner in crime, Pansy J. “Pam” Johnson, his granddaughter Hunter Isabella Johnson, parents William C. Johnson, Thelma Lazzell, brothers Charles “Skip” Johnson, Harry Johnson, William Johnson, John M. Lazzell, John W. Lazzell, James Lazzell and sisters Patricia Lazzell and Juanita Bolin.

A Celebration Of Life will take place in the future at the Brown County State Park in Nashville, IN. Arrangements entrusted to Indiana Funeral Care - Greenwood Chapel.
