In Loving Memory of Rita Bane

Rita Kay Bane was granted her angel wings on September 14th, 2020 after an abrupt battle with pancreatitis.

Rita was born on February 11th, 1958 to Jim and Ruth Madison. Born and raised in Lawrence Indiana by Jim and Alma Ruth “ Meme”. Their only daughter, with Bob as her only sibling. She was born under the astrological sign Aquarius - Compassionate and Loyal to family and peers.

Rita's boys grew up playing baseball, so every spring and summer were filled with busy weeks at the ballpark. Despite these busy months, she managed to reduce her work hours just so she could take them to and from every practice and game. The Bane family took annual summer vacations, mostly driving the country to absorb all the sights and experiences together. Rita raised her boys to be strong, respectful, hard-working, but most importantly to enjoy all life has to offer. They will forever be grateful for her loving ways and she’ll always be in their hearts.

Rita had many, many friends that she impacted with her smile and charismatic personality. She worked at Roche Diagnostics for 30 years, then retired to enjoy the fruits of her labor. After retirement, Rita spent much of her time re-decorating, sprucing up her house, planting flowers, and this year in particular, hosting pool parties with friends and family at Bane Island; her backyard paradise. She thoroughly loved spending time in water and sought out every opportunity to do so; whether it was to Florida with parents and brother Bob during her childhood, the "Hen Swim", Key West on a couples trip, or Dale Hollow with “the girls” where she vacationed just this past month. She loved fun in the sun. And she also liked riding her Harley Davidson, or her “baby hog” as her brother Bob called it.

Rita and Gary spent countless nights at the sports page; "loving the nights they can't remember; with the friends they can't forget". You know who you are! Please think of Rita on your next trip there and raise a glass to toast her.

Rita is survived by her husband, Gary; sons Kyle and Brent; stepson, Bob; brother, Jim; three grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren. Rita adored her grandchildren and showered them in hugs and kisses.

She will forever be remembered as a loving and inspirational spirit.
