Ricky Dale Stav, 59, of McCordsville, Indiana, passed away Friday, June 3, 2022 after a gallant battle with colon cancer. Ricky was survived by his mother, Marqueta Jo Bratt; sister, Vicky Bratt Westlake; mother-in-law Sandy Leavitt; and sisters-in-law, Vickey Lemonds and Mary Orr. He was preceded in death by his wife, Michelle Lemonds Stav; stepfather, Warren Bratt; and brother, Randy Stav.
Ricky was born on Charleston Air Force Base in Charleston, South Carolina on January 29, 1963. He spent his childhood traveling the world as an Air Force child. He had fond memories of the life size snow sculptures of Goosebay, Labrador, and of attending grade school on Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany. As a teen, he moved to McConnel Air Force Base in Witchta, Kansas where he excelled in sports and broke his leg playing football. Soon after this, he began to develop his love for music. Moving to Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis, Indiana, Ricky grew his hair long, bought Kiss records, and began playing the guitar. In the 1980’s, Ricky worked as a roadie and traveled with the band Why on Earth. Ricky and his sister got a thrill out of attending races at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, especially Formula One Racing. He had a zest for reading books and getting tattoos.
Ricky hated paying bills and reveled in buying all things that are cool. Ricky’s collectibles numbered in the hundreds of thousands. Ricky currently worked as a Service Manager for Walker Irrigation Systems where he was loved by co-workers and customers. Most strangers were impressed by his awesome tattoos, including the Snake and Mongoose cars on his forearms, and the flames on his ankles. Ricky had an abundance of knowledge and could win just about any trivia contest he entered. Ricky took pride in tending for his mother. Most of all, friends and family enjoyed Ricky’s gift of story telling, his sincere kindness, and his love for Rock n Roll
