Ricki Brooke Freiman, 81, of Akron, Ohio, passed away on December 17, 2023 in Indianapolis. She had recently moved there to be close to her daughter while she faced health complications that had arisen several months after knee surgery.
Ricki is survived by her daughter, Christine Freiman (and partner Julie Senesac); brother, John Freiman (and wife Terri); sister Pat Ovark (and husband, Ron); and two nephews John Freiman and Scott Tiffan and their families.
Ricki was born in 1942 near Philadelphia. Shortly thereafter, her family moved to Akron. She attended Buchtel High School and went on to Ohio University in Athens where she joined the Alpha Delta Pi sorority and studied social work. In her early 30s, she earned a Master of Counseling and Education from Purdue University. Ricki worked for several years at Purdue’s Department of Education before moving back to Akron in her late 40s to be closer to family.
Ricki retired after working in corporate banking. Throughout her life, she loved music, art, nature, dogs, and spending time with family and friends. She was known for her kind and considerate nature. Ricki was a member of the University of Akron Women’s Committee and served on the Alpha Delta Pi board. She also volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House and the Akron Art Museum. Donations can be made in her name to Akron Ronald McDonald House.
