Richard Wesley "Dick" Tompkins, 82, of Sheridan, Indiana, passed away on February 24, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Born on April 6, 1942, in Indianapolis, Richard dedicated his life to hard work and service. His career spanned several industries, beginning with the U.S. Postal Service before he became an independent semi-truck driver. Later, he continued his passion for the road by driving for Syndicate Sales. He took great pride in his work and approached every job with unwavering dedication.

Beyond his profession, Richard was an active member of his community. He was a past Mason and a past Worthy Patron of the Sheridan Eastern Star. He also found fulfillment as a member of the Shrine Horse Patrol, where he embraced the camaraderie and purpose of supporting charitable causes.

Above all else, Richard cherished his family. He is survived by his loving family: wife Jan Tompkins; daughters Kristie Browning (Jason), Dawn Teschendorf (Craig), Stepchildren: Kelly Hedlund (Marty), and Amy Miller; and grandchildren Cassidy, Olivia, Tanner, Zach and Gavin. Step grandchildren: Dylan, Emily, Holly and Jettie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherrill (Jack) and Laura (Luzadder) Tompkins; his sister Janette Butts and her husband Gene Butts; and his son Jeffrey Tompkins.

Richard will be remembered for his kindness and generosity—a man who never hesitated to lend a helping hand. His legacy of love and selflessness lives on in those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all who loved him.
