Richard Thompson, 56, of Indianapolis passed away at Community Heart & Vascular Hospital at 4:39pm on Sunday, January 19th, 2025. Richard was born on January 10, 1969, the son of Margaret (Kew) Thompson and Dick Walker. Richard was adopted by Thomas Thompson in 1979 after his marriage to Margaret in 1978.
Survivors include his wife, Ami Thompson of Indianapolis, IN; son Michael (18); daughter, Maggie (16); father, Thomas Thompson of Danville, IL; sister, Susan Kew of Alvin, IL; mother and father-in-law, Mike and Karen Landess of Portland, IN; two brothers and sisters-in-law; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his mother and biological father.
Rich was beloved by all for his sense of humor and playful personality. He loved music, video games, movies, and sports; particularly golf and basketball. He was especially gifted at athletics and games including bowling, foosball, ping pong, pool, and darts.
He cherished his mother to whom he spoke almost every day before her passing. He was excited to be a father and did his best to create a stable and comfortable home for his children. He was devoted to his wife with whom he spent 28 years (23 married). He loved his family fiercely and worked hard to meet their needs especially when it came to fun and laughter.
There will be two Celebrations of Life for Rich:
Saturday, February 15th from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Grace Community Church of the Nazarene, 1629 King St., Tilton, IL, 61833.
Sunday, March 2nd from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant, 3815 E. 96th St, Indianapolis, IN 46240. This will be an open house so stop by anytime between 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm.
