Richard Michael Larkin

December 17, 1937 — April 18, 2021

Richard Michael Larkin of Indianapolis, IN, passed from this life on Sunday, April 18, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was 83 years old. Dick was born on December 17, 1937 to the late James and Virginia (Sharkey) Larkin in Boston, MA. He went to Roslindale High School and New England School of Printing. He met his wife Josie in 1959. They were married in 1961 and spent 60 years together.

Dick worked at all the major newspapers in NYC from 1961 to 1966. The family then moved to Latham, NY, and enjoyed 50 years there. They were members of Our Lady of the Assumption Church. After leaving the Times Union, he became a roofer, retiring from the Watervliet Arsenal in 1998.

Besides his parents, Dick was pre-deceased by his brother, Kenneth and a sister, Diane in infancy. He is survived by his wife, Josephine (Cannizzaro); his children, Richard (Melissa), Patricia (Andrew) Borme, Pamela (Steven) Caruso, and Gary (Lisa); and his grandchildren, Nicholas (Kylla), Emma, Nathaniel, Jude, Sophia, Aidan, and Reina. He is also survived by his brothers, James (Jeanne) and William (Sheila), sister-in-law Elizabeth, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He found no greater joy than spending time with his grandchildren sharing his life experiences and down-to-earth lessons.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption in Latham on June 12th at 10:00 am followed by committal at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands.
