Richard (Dick) Marion Mullen Sr., 83 passed away December 26, 2020, surrounded by family. Dick was born to the late Kenneth and Nita Mullen on August 18, 1937, in Kokomo, Indiana.
Dick graduated from Kokomo High School in 1955 and later joined the Navy. He went on to work as a senior engineer and supervisor at Allison Transmission and Rolls Royce. While there, he received several different awards for his work.
Dick enjoyed playing golf, woodworking, traveling with family, and volunteering with football, baseball, and little league whenever he could. He belonged to Venture Christian Church and was an elder and deacon at the church. His greatest enjoyment was being with family.
Dick is survived by his spouse, Patricia A. Mullen; children, Pamela (Lawain) McNeil, Julie (Tommy) Robinson, Rick (Stephanie) Mullen, Jeff (Tammy) Mullen; stepchildren, Shirley (Ken) Schmutte, Mike (Jenny) Lents, Gary (Michele) Lents, Steve Lents; 25 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Nita; first wife, Patricia J. Mullen, and grandson, Nicholas R. Schmutte.
The family held a private funeral and Dick was laid to rest in Kokomo, Indiana.
Celebration of Life will be at Venture Christian Church, 14501 Hazel Dell Parkway, Carmel, IN 46033, on Tuesday, January 5th. Doors open at 5:00 with service from 5:30 to 6:30.
Per the Indiana State Governor, Eric Holcomb, and the Indiana State Department of Health’s mandate, all services and visitation gatherings are required to social distance and to always wear a mask.
