Rhonda Gale (Pierce) Pfenninger, 57, of New Castle, Indiana passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at St. Vincent Heart Hospital on November 14 after a brief illness. She was born on February 24, 1967 in New Castle to Marion and Sandra Pierce.
She grew up in Lewisville and spent all of her life in the Henry County area. Rhonda was married to Scott Pfenninger before his passing in August 2022. Although they were only married for a short time, they had been happily together for several years. Rhonda attended Tri High School and Ivy Tech Community College. She worked at Citizens State Bank, as a daycare provider, and at various other jobs over the years. She was also a stay-at-home mom to four children, Kelsey (Matt) Winkhart of Spiceland, Cory (Chelsea) Winkhart, Karlee (Cory) Bennett, and Kassidy (Drew) Winkhart all of New Castle. She was also grandmother to four grandchildren, including Camden and Collins Winkhart. She always enjoyed being around water and loved spending time at the pool, at the lake, and at the beach. Florida was one of her favorite places to be.
She was also preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents. She is survived by her parents, her children and grandchildren, sister Soni (Russell) Jones of Straughn, and brother Marion Pierce of Muncie. She is also survived by four nephews.
At her request, she will be cremated with no public service. The family will hold a private memorial at a later time at a place by the water. If you would like to memorialize Rhonda, do something nice for someone and think of her.
