Rebecca Lynn Getz (Soots)
With the heaviest of hearts our family announces the passing of our brave, kind, generous, stubborn, and unimaginably loving mother, Gammaw, sister and friend. On her 53rd birthday, April 2nd, 2023 Becky joined her parents and the love of her life in heaven.
Rebecca was born in Indianapolis, IN on April 2nd,1970 where she resided for her childhood and most of her adult life as well.
Rebecca spent her years working in the restaurant field starting from a very young age. She had such a great passion for this industry and was among the best in her field. While her passion for her career was strong it was nothing compared to that of the passion and love she had for her children and her family. She always felt her greatest achievements in life was her children and she felt great pride in all the things they accomplished and continued to do in life. Her love for her kids knew no boundaries. Rebecca was also an avid animal lover and treated her pets as her family members. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for her kids or her dogs, always putting their needs above her own. It was and always will be one of her most memorable qualities. Rebecca had a deep love for her sister, one that went beyond just a sisterly bond. A love that will continue to be felt even as life continues on.
In 2020 Rebecca was diagnosed with cancer, with unfavorable odds. While this news was unsettling and hard to process, Rebecca truly gave cancer the finger and said hold my beer. For someone who was told she wouldn’t see her next birthday, fought to see not just the next but 3 more. When she neared the end of her life her goal was to see her 53rd birthday. In true Becky fashion, she not only made it to her 53rd birthday but she also spent her last moments here with us on that day. She gave the fight of her life for every moment she could have with her kids, grandkids and family. In her years with cancer, she had a bucket list of items she wanted to accomplish. While she may not have checked each one off, she checked the biggest ones off, such as vacations with her family. She got to dip her toes in the ocean with all of her grandbabies which was one of her biggest dreams. A memory our entire family will hold near and dear forever.
To know Becky was to love her. To talk with Becky would mean you heard stories about her kids and grandkids. Becky left us all with memories we will forever cherish. She taught us to always fight for what you want, never let anyone tell you how your life should go, to love hard and to never give up.
Rebecca is survived by her son Scott (Amanda) and her daughter Abigail (Jordan) and her grandchildren Kristianna, Elliana, Emma, Abram and Eamon, her sisters Amy (Kevin) and Kimberly.
Rebecca is preceded in death by her parents Susan and Robert Davis, Daniel Soots, her partner Danny Hintz, and her grandparents.
