Ralph F. Owens

October 21, 1960 — July 31, 2024

Indianapolis

Ralph Franklin Owens, 63, passed away after an extended illness on July 31, 2024 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

He was born on October 21, 1960 in Anderson, Indiana. As a kid, he loved riding his bike, delivering newspapers, and spending time with his two sisters and brother.

Ralph graduated high school from Anderson High School in Anderson, Indiana.

He graduated from Columbia College with a Bachelor’s of Science in 1985. He proudly served in the Air Force and worked for DFAS for a combined total of 34 years.

Many knew Ralph for his big heart, sense of humor, and love of a good Snickers bar. He was an avid Indianapolis Colts and Pacers fan who never missed a game. He loved Saturday night card games and playing pool with his friends and family. You would never find him at home without one (of many) of his beloved dogs by his side.

At the time of his death, Ralph was retired, but loved nothing more than being a full time dad and grandpa.

Ralph is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Ashley (Andrew) Russell and Audrey (Tyler) Symmes; his four grandchildren, Knox, Reagan, Hayes, and Reid; sister, Lorei (Mark) Sloan; the mother of his two daughters, Mary Ann Owens-Benefiel; step parents, Martha Owens and Jim Johnson; along with many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, Russell F. Owens; mother, Shirley Johnson; sister, Anita (Owens) VanAlst; brother, Russell O. Owens.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, we ask you to carry on his love of giving to others by fulfilling an act of kindness not just today, but whenever you are able to help someone else out in a time of need. Nothing would have made him happier.

As Ralph would have said, “Life is Good. Life is Grand.”
